A keyboard layout decides, which key on the keyboard will give which alphabet on the computer screen. Using, English fonts and no keyboard driver program will give the face value of the keys, i.e. press "A" will display alphabet "A" on the screen. But to enter texts in Indian languages, various keyboard layouts are available. Different packages of Akruti support one or more from the following keyboard layouts:
