As discussed in an earlier section, different software use different locations in the table of 256 character to place the alphabets of Indian languages. Most Indian Language software use up the locations of the English alphabets. So even if you want to type one English word in a line that uses Indian Language fonts, you have to select that word and change its fonts to English. Not only that, you have to adjust its size also, so that it does not appear too large compared to the chosen Indian Language font.
Akruti has a unique solution to this problem. Akruti has what we call bilingual fonts -- here, to accommodate Indian language alphabets, the positions other than English alphabets are used, English alphabets of matching shape, size and thickness are placed where they would normally be.
